coming in from the cold

A bunch of wonderful things happened today.  Michelle went out and ate with her friend.  Marissa ate all her food.  It was fried rice and chicken.  I then bribed her with a 'carrot' and she took a poop.  At lunch we were listening to my tablet and  Bob Marley's coming in from the cold song came on.  I got some good video of her dancing to it.  She was pretending to be cold and not just hugging herself in the video.  After lunch we went up to her new treehouse and played for a little while.  She is so good at being careful moving up and down the stairs.  Mercury went up there with us today and Marissa was hugging her pretty good.  I gave Marissa a peapod from the front yard and she said more.  She loves fresh peas.  I found about two or three more pods then said can't find anymore.  She went on the hunt all hunched over examining every plant.  She yelled out "theres one papa" and before I could she ripped it from the vine.  I had to open it for her and she let out a 'mmmmmmm'   I bet it was more satisfying because she found it herself.  I brought her rocking chair outside and she was loving it.  She rocked back and forth for about 10 minutes.  A neighbor came by with two big dogs down our sidewalk and Marissa ran up to the stairs.  Good girl !  Michelle and I got some more good video of her dancing to "coming from the cold".

potty training gone wrong

Marissa is doing so good.  She went in her little potty 4 times today.  Then things went wrong.  She stopped wanting to go and she came screaming in her room with poop on her sock.  I went to the living room to check it out and discovered a huge pile of poop.  It was 1/3 the size of a pop can.  I took her in the bath and gave her a spraying down.  I threw her socks in the toilet and let them soak.  I started the bath and grabbed a paper towel to pick up the poop.  When I picked it up I ran back into the bathroom I traded the socks in the toilet with the poop from the living room.  It wouldn't even flush!

The family bumps

We have this old kitchen table that my parents gave me.  It's an expandable table where the table can split in the middle and have another section added.  The important thing is the table has two metal rails on the bottom side.  The metal rails have sharp corners.  When a little person turns two the rails are the perfect height for a head bump.  My brother and I bumped our heads on this table when we were just toddlers and now my daughter just did.  It's touching.  Here is this little person we made who is starting down the same journey that I did.  My wife and I live 120 miles away from my parents.  My brother is in the house we grew up in with his wife and daughter.  She will trip on the same little step from the kitchen to utility room, try climbing in the same cupboards, and experience many other things my brother and I did.  We have the table and maybe one day my daughter will be a mother watching her young one bump their head in the same spot we did.

Little nap

Today is Saturday and we just got back from shopping. Before that we were taking a nap. Marissa slept for three hours in the bed with us. It was the best sleep I ever got.  When I woke up I turned to my side and saw Marissa sleeping with one of her eyes partially open.  I guess she can sleep with her eyes open like a marine.  Before we went to sleep there was a great deal of chaos in the house. She was constipated.  She was saying in her crib and started screaming. There was a giant turd stuck and it wasn't coming out.  Michelle put a wipe on her finger and tried getting the poop out. I was still napping. Marissa passed the poop and we all took a nap together in our bed.
